After Creator being just in time to join the space station after coming from a marketing meeting he had, the first real topic regarding Planets and Aliens that is being talked about is: marketing. Marketing is a thing you have to solve, also for an Ordinals project. Reaching people is one of the main challenges today. And the options are limited. The larger platforms are mainly controlled by people with a lot of money.
Creator thinks the personal approach works best, like we do with Planets. Physical representation (Gallery) and talk with people what it is. Chuck ads that for people to understand what the Planets project is, they have to look further than the thumbnail they see on MagicEden.
Creator says this is one of the reasons for launching aliens. They are more accessible , they are fun, you can use them as PFP and in this way more people will get to know the Planets project and take a more in depth view at the Planets project. We can already see a lot of new users in Discord that now minted Aliens but don’t have a Planet yet. Chuck adds that you can also see this on the ordinal.gold website. Where you can see users that have multiple Aliens but not Planets (yet).
The Ordinal.Gold website is a great way with valuable information of who mints what, who collects OG etc.
Creator then continues with his view on the market. Many people see is as DEAD, but Creator isn’t sure this is the case. He blames it mostly on the fact that there is only one big marketplace (ME) and if the frontpage projects don’t haven’t an amount of volume or price going up, then the conclusion is: market is dead.
He says it’s a bear market when everybody has left. And he doesn’t think that is the case. People are still there, people are very active (for example in Planets discord).
Crypfu comes on stage and says: MagicEden wallet is not very good which doesn’t help. Creator adds that they had a lot of issues adding ME wallet connect to the mint page. Chuck says maybe this is also because it’s not a pure ordinal/btc platform and their focus is spread amongst other chains. Creator thinks it’s because they build everything with trading in mind, not collecting.
Creator notices a lot of people having Aliens as PFP on X. And that they work really well as pfp. He usually doesn’t speak positively about things he created himself, but does say “they turned out really well”. They are funny, happy colors. And even though they look totally different than Planets, Creator thinks it makes Planets more approachable.
Chuck asks how Creator views the speed of the mint, passing 4000 mints, creeping towards 50%. Creator says he likes the pace. Especially after a lot of people said this is the worst time to launch a collection, especially if its 10.000k pieces. Creator says he loves it when people say things like this and see it as a challenge to make it a success. Just like with Planets they seem to end up in wallets of people with holder mentality. Planets took 4 months to mint 2100 and then secondary market went up instantly after mint out.
Community question: When will Aliens be on secondary? Creator think the fairest would be to index them after mint out. Just like NekoNeko. He likes the fact that this is the first time anybody asks this question. During Planets mint on day 1 the question “wen secondary” cam already.
Community question: Now that the Spaceship is live, what is next on the Todolist for Planets.
Creator: The spaceship was a lot of work. It may not look like that. There are already 27 spaceships in the galaxy. It took them a bit longer than they expected. The artwork that was planned before the Spaceship, will be the next thing to be added. And at the same time they are working on the bigger projects like communication between planets and adding of resources to the planets (needed for the game)
For the game you need all the resources, some will be a bit more rare, but it is a challenge while designing the game. It should be fun for everyone, but people who collect a lot need a clear advantage. So it’s a balancing act.
Ribbi on stage for a question: Will aliens play a role. Creator is still thinking about how. The initial idea was that they wouldn’t, but more than one person asked, so Creator is thinking of giving him a purpose. Obviously OG points will play a role in the game so indirect they will be part of the game already. Dedicated people should have some sort of an edge in the game, but it should be fun and accessible for anybody.
Creator adds a bit of alpha: in the beginning of next year there will be a drop (free) that gets added to planets, it is a first step of the interface of the game & something related to resources. He cannot share more details but it will be very cool.
Steve comes on stage to say whatsup to everybody, then goes back to work. 😊
Ribbi wants to point out that Thursday evening there is another Alien Pokernight on the PokerMan app where people can win aliens. And December 28 we want to organize a bigger poker tournament, and have some other Ordinals communities play along. (Maybe with some additional prizes). Participating is FREE.
Community question: How will alliances work and how will defending and attacking work? Creator says that’s very specific. But he can say some general things. Everything you do in the game is on the blockchain. They built their own indexer. Every step somebody takes in the game is inscribed on the game through the indexer. The whole history of everything that happens in the galaxy is on chain. You can see on the blockchain which planet attacked who, and the result of that. You don’t have to continually inscribe stuff. Even with the indexer it is fully decentralized. It runs on the same protocol as the communication. That’s why building communication first is well planned, as the game needs the same protocol.
Crypfu drops an idea for space stations. Its like a step before Planets. People who hold an alien but don’t have a planet to put them on, it might be an intermediate step. Creator is intrigued by the concept and starts brainstorming. They need to be three dimensional and look interesting. Crypfu adds they could be modular. Creator loves the idea but won’t do it in the near future as it would take a lot of work. Ribbi adds the idea that the space station is in a orbit around the planet. The brainstorm continues and Dex adds the idea that a space station could be like a marketplace where people can trade resources. Creator is writing every thing down to consider for future development. Dextroid also asks if making Spaceships customizable is possible. Creator loves the idea of skinning the spaceship. Its also definitely possible and he adds it to the todolist.
Creator loves the fact that after every X Space Station sessions Creators todo-list grows and grows.
On Resources: Creator has now added 4 out of 16 resources. There are two types of resources: POWER and MATERIALS.
Regarding Ordinal.io Launchpad:
It is currently in use for our own projects. Other projects are welcome as well. They don’t want to put it on public yet, as they are still working on improving some things.
If you want to launch on Ordinal.io just contact Creator. The first mint that isn’t an own project is planned for January. It will not be open for everybody to launch on their own, even though the backend for that is ready. Creator wants to keep it some what curated for now.
For next year Creator is planning some exclusive mints from artists that are not on Ordinals now. They are pretty big names in the art scene, and therefor Creator wants the platform to be completely bug free.
Final community question: Is there more known for the 50 blockplanets that can be earned
Creator says OG is gonna play a big part of it. The Aliens 1/1 will be distributed before the block planets. Also he doesn’t want to drop the block planets all at once. They are really special and he wants to treat them that way. It will take some time to have them all released.
Right before we close the space Suye joins the stage to give an update on the gallery. They launch a great project with Vincent Mock and they will fully tokenize the next Shark (made out of 5000 steel fishing hooks). Creator asks if the 3 dimensional shark can be put in the galaxy? Suye says “Call me tomorrow and we will find a way to add it to the galaxy”.
Creator and Suye chat some more about getting more artists to Ordinals, and then we have to end the spaces because Creator’s daughter is asking for dinner.
Until next time!
